Specialists in the design and sheeted supply of Victorian floor tiles and contemporary geometric schemes
Period geometric floor and wall schemes are found throughout Europe, and was the most popular choice of tile during the Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian eras.
The most common design that was used for exterior locations is the black and white chequerboard using a two inch square tile, bordered with a row of diagonally set square tiles.
More elaborate and colourful designs were often used for hall floor interiors and featured what are now known as encaustic tiles at the intersections of the lattice element of the field. Decorative period mosaics comprising smaller tesserae were more commonly found at the entrances to commercial premises and would often feature the company name or logo and floral detailing.
Most suitable modern replacement tiles are now metric in sizes and are usually 9-10 mm thick. They are known as dust pressed tiles with the colour running throughout the body of the tile.
There are 31 colours in our range encompassing traditional and contemporary shades. Colours will vary very slightly between factory production runs but remain very consistent. All the tiles are approximately 9mm thick, and the larger square and octagon tiles, 100mm and 150mm, have a slight bevelled edge. Apart from a very subtle difference in size and colour, this range is the closest available to the original system of ceramic dust pressed pre-moulded Victorian tiles.
We specialise in Victorian floor tiles supplied in a sheeted format, a revolutionary and easy to install system. Our geometric schemes encompass the Victorian, Georgian and Edwardian periods, including a range of contemporary designs.
With a comprehensive catalogue and a design consultancy service we are experts at providing tiled designs for domestic and commercial properties. Our unique tile sheeting service provides an easy solution to ensure complex designs are installed accurately and efficiently.
Unlike other pre-moulded tiles our range of reproduction tiles have square edges and can be closely assembled to recreate an accurate and authentic look. The tiles are arranged individually to create the field and border, so minimal cutting is required.
Original period tiled floors were based on the Imperial system. All of the geometric components featured in this range of tiles are based on metric measurements.
The design possibilities are infinite and as such we are able to offer a bespoke design consultancy and matching service for clients who have a clear idea of what they are looking for but cannot find the design they are looking for in our catalogue.
