Heritage quality imperial-sized decorative encaustics
Handmade ceramic tiles that are approved for use in heritage and conservation projects
For restoration projects requiring a high level of detail and authenticity, we offer a specialist range of traditional encaustic tiles produced by one of the last remaining potteries of its kind. This collection of bespoke handmade tiles has played a key role in our restoration service, and we continue to offer it for its exceptional quality, durability and historical accuracy.
Artisans create each tile using techniques that have changed little since medieval times, including hand-carving plaster moulds and layering and scraping coloured clays. This heritage-style tile has colours that run deep into its body, offering beauty and longevity.
The range includes an impressive archive of historic moulds, from individual insets and repeating borders to large feature panels. It is ideal for projects that call for a faithful recreation of original tile schemes. If a particular design is required, the pottery can create custom moulds to produce a new pattern.
You can customise the encaustic tiles on this page by ordering them in any combination of the colours listed below. We showcase the tiles in specific colours. However, we can supply them in any tone or combination from the available palette to match your preferences.
Please note
The depth of these encaustic tiles can vary slightly between batches, typically between 12 - 15 mm
